1.Bertone's Mantide
The most striking vehicle shown at the show, Bertone's Mantide is the latest bespoke supercar to come out of the Turin-based studios of Bertone, one of Italy's most celebrated design houses. Now helmed by Jason Castriota, formerly of Pininfarina, the Mantide is a dramatically rebodied Corvette that could make production reality, should strictly limited number of well-heeled customers be found
2.Yanfeng Visteon's Fengyi
The Fengyi is a demo sports car developed by electronics specialists Yanfeng Visteon in conjunction with the Shanghai Automotive Industrial Corporation (SAIC). First shown last year, the sporty two-seater was substantially revised for Shanghai 2009. Designed to epitomise 'Chinese sportiness', the Fengyi is aimed at China's new generation of aspirational consumers, brand-conscious but also keen to support home-grown industry
3.Guangzhou Honda's Linian
The Japanese companys Chinese partner came up with this svelte roadster concept, a sort of slightly more baroque and expressive version of Honda's own, venerable, S2000. No word on production, but an indication that small sports cars are becoming more and more popular on the country's roads
4.Geely GT
A sporting concept from Geely, the GT was dubbed the 'South Chinese tiger'. A more production-ready version of the 'Siberian Tiger' concept shown at Beijing in 2008, the new version came complete with scissor doors and 'palm print' door access. A clear lunge for a the upmarket buyer
5.Great Wall Hover H7
Billed as a 'luxurious SUV model', the Hover s H7 was stylistically different, with great slashes down its flanks to soften its scale (or, as the company claims, 'exclusive and exquisite stenciled side door design'). Not as sizeable as some Western rivals, the H7 was intended as an R&D showcase for a company pushing its high tech credentials
6.Porsche Panamera
Eagerly awaited, it was especially significant that Porsche should choose Shanghai as the venue for the global debut of the Panamera four-door. The Germans even went to the trouble of cramming the lengthy car into the goods lift of the city's World Financial Center, then unveiling it to the press on the 94th floor. Expect a full report on this significant machine very soon
7.Peugeot RD concept
A long-term supporter of undergraduate design, the Shanghai show saw the debut of this Peugeot-branded student design project. The Peugeot RD was conceived by designer Carlos Arturo Torres Tovar while at the National University of Colombia. The winner of the company's 5th annual design competition, Toyar saw his single-seat electric car concept taken through to finished model
